How Cards Up works

No algorithm ยท no games. Seven rules, applied to everyone equally.

No algorithm

On every other app, the mechanic is three things must happen at once. The algorithm has to decide to show you to someone. They have to like you. You have to like them back. Three doors, in sequence, before you can say a single word. The average guy waits at the first door forever. The average woman drowns at the second. On Cards Up there are no doors. The feed is everyone who matches your filters, most recently active first. Nobody is ranked, boosted, or buried, not for money, not for engagement, not for any reason. Reaching out is effortless because it was never supposed to be a puzzle.

One knock per day

On other apps, the guy who copy-pastes the same line to two hundred people wins by volume. The woman on the other end drowns in it and stops reading. Everybody loses except the platform, which counts the noise as engagement. On Cards Up you can message as many people as you like, but only one message per person per day until they reply. Nobody can pile up on one inbox. Nobody wins by volume. Once someone replies, the conversation is open with no limits. Reach is wide. Weight on any one door is impossible.

Who you see

Other apps show your face to people who did not ask to see it, because more impressions means more ad revenue. Cards Up matches both ways. Men see women and women see men. You only appear to people whose declaration includes you, and your feed only contains people whose declaration you include. Wider orientation options arrive after launch. This is about starting with a dense pool, not a statement about anyone.

Visibility applies to everyone

Other apps sell invisibility to whoever pays for it. Incognito modes, ghost browsing, private likes, hidden profiles for the people who did not want to be seen doing what they were doing. On Cards Up, everyone is findable by name. Everyone's online status shows. Nobody can buy or toggle their way out of either. Visibility is the product. It applies to all of us equally.

Money buys no advantage

Every other app is pay-to-win with the veneer of romance. Boosts, super likes, priority placement, seven tiers of subscription, each one buying a small edge over the person who could not afford it. Dating became a status market because the platforms priced it that way. On Cards Up, paying removes banner ads. That is it. No boosts. No extra messages. No priority in dating. The playing field stays level because a level playing field is the whole point of the place.

Faces are real, and stay current

Every face is checked by a person against a live pose challenge before a card goes live. Swap your face photo and the badge pauses until the new photo is re-verified. Every six months, verification runs again. People change, and the card should look like the person who shows up. Every photo carries its upload date, so you can always calibrate what you are seeing.

The record is public

Other apps collect stats on you constantly and never show you a single one. Elo, reply rates, how often you get shown, how often you get skipped. All of it hidden, all of it used to sort you into tiers you cannot see. On Cards Up the same stats exist and every card shows them: who answered incoming requests, who never opened them, who read and left someone waiting, and how someone treats people after the first message. Nobody can hide theirs. What the village would have known.
